About

Andrew Houle

I'm a frontend web developer living in Upstate New York fueled by curiosity, driven by problem solving.

I love the process of creating a website! I’m a problem solver. I strive to craft an awesome user experience. I do it all with a fine mix of CSS (via PostCSS), HTML & Javascript. I manage all my dependencies, tooling and bundling with the power of webpack, then integrate the site with SilverStripe if a CMS is needed. It's a privilege to be able to make a living doing something that I genuinely enjoy. When I say stuff like that, I get the feeling folks think my job is all milk and cookies... that’s not what I mean at all, though I do like me some milk and cookies. Designing and developing websites is hard work filled with road blocks both self inflicted (thanks Dad for the perfectionist gene), and client driven. But it's these challenges that drive me, and make my work so interesting. Let's just say I don't think I'd be a happy camper stocking shelves all day. I've worked in design/development in some form or another since 2003. I currently spend my days as a web developer for Niagara University. When I'm not thinking about geeky things like reusable code and user interfaces I can be found spending time with my awesome family, watching the Red Sox, and partaking of unhealthy foods. Some of my other (albeit more out of the box) interests include keeping tabs on the weather, skipping rocks, tossing a frisbee, and coffee... lots of coffee.
